Dr. Ian McLaren is a hospitalist, or physician who specializes in managing the care of patients within the hospital. Dr. McLaren practices at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and Penn Presbyterian Medical Center. He joined the Division in 2026 and currently serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine. His interests include medical education, research, quality improvement and patient safety.

Dr. McLaren earned his medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine and completed his Internal Medicine residency and a heart failure fellowship at Jefferson Einstein Medical Center.
